Aloha School Year 2018 - 2020

Aloha!

Congratulations, families! It has been a very enjoyable 2018 - 2019 school year teaching your children. It was a year full of very memorable events that I’ll always value. Your children have grown up so much since the beginning of the school year. They have shown me their willingness to not only learn but more importantly their willingness to grow, especially when times were trying. I will always be grateful to have had their motivation to learn from me, each other, and themselves. You all have children who are eager to perform to expectations. I encourage them to continue to set attainable academic goals at the start of 7th grade and to seize every new opportunity to continue to develop upon their strengths, whether it be in a leadership role or achieving excellence in their work.

Most of you are aware that this year with your children might have possibly been my last in the classroom. Next school year is an endeavor into the curriculum world. I’ll still be at Webling (so students, please stop by!) but I’ll be working as a “Data Coach”, which I’ve explained to the students is a teacher for the teachers. I’m looking forward to the challenges this position brings but it takes me away from having my own class. So for this school year, I am truly honored to have made an impact in your children’s lives, whether it may have been big or small, for they each have made one in mine.

Thank you for your generous support, patience, and communication this school year. I am excited for what the future brings for all of us next school year!

All the best,

Mr. Wong

Have a fantastic summer!

SBA Testing

Ous Standards-Based Assessment sessions for ELA and Math begin tomorrow. For these testing sessions, I typically assign light homework to ensure students are getting an early night's rest. Although students have assigned homework, all students have been given more time than usual in class to begin and/or to complete their homework.

Please remain updated with their homework assignments for the day. Although not necessary, the students are welcome to complete their iReady Reading and/or Math lessons as home as well.

I also encourage the following for the students:
  1. Get a good night's sleep.
  2. Eat a healthy and nutritional breakfast.
  3. Come to school ready to attempt their best performance.
We're in the homestretch of the year so I really encourage my students to continue to work hard and do their best.

Fall Break

Aloha Families,

I feel like I may share in your same thoughts about how fast first quarter just flew by! I need to not think about there being just 3 quarters remaining in the year! There is so much left to do together and there is still so much more to learn about your children.

This first quarter has been a wonderful one getting to know each of them. I don't think I've ever had a class that was as eager to learn as this year's. They respond so well to RTI, and always look forward to working with one another and to try new things. Although they may moan and groan, it is so evident that they really like being challenged in Math. Their love for learning is inspiring as well as rewarding to see, and it makes my job a little easier.

That being said, I look forward to seeing their enthusiasm when we return on Monday, October 15th! Enjoy this time with your children as they have worked very hard this quarter! Have a safe and enjoyable Fall Break!

PS - You are welcome to have your children work on their iReady Reading and Math lessons during the break to help them continue to retain skills and grasp concepts.

Meet and Greet

Aloha Families!

It was fantastic meeting those of you who stopped by at Meet and Greet! It was great meeting you as I look forward to working with you to support your child's learning.

As mentioned that night, I will upload my presentation to the website if you had missed anything I went over. If you weren't able to attend, it would be beneficial for you to look over as well, as I've mentioned important policies and grade level events.

I look forward to working with you and I look forward to teaching your children this year

Reminders:
- Homework is assigned daily.
- Communication is key. The Remind App is my go-to, but email is best as well.
