Webling JPO
The Junior Police Officer (JPO) Program at Webling Elementary School is a leadership initiative for 5th and 6th graders, managed under the traffic division of the Honolulu Police Department. The primary role of a Junior Police Officer is to ensure the safety of students as they arrive at and depart from school.
Webling Elementary has two JPO squads, consisting of about 40 students who demonstrated leadership potential and were subsequently accepted into the program. Their responsibilities include assisting students in and out of vehicles during arrival and departure times. Each squad alternates weekly duty shifts.
JPOs are required to report for duty at 7:30 AM and 1:55 PM on their designated days. They must also participate in a weekly practice session every Thursday during the first recess, as well as attend one leadership training session per month in the afternoon.
Dismissal Times for JPOs:
- Monday to Thursday: 2:45 PM
- Wednesday: 1:20 PM
- Friday: 2:55 PM (additional time is allotted for a weekly reward)
Leadership Advisors for the JPO program include Scott Sakihara, Kahea Snow, and Katrina Arnold.
